De-Risking
No major dating app runs a full background check by default.
Verified photo. Unverified person.
Dating apps confirm a profile photo matches a face. They don't confirm who that person actually is — and they're not built to look out for your long-term interest the way you'd assume. Most run no background check at all.
In 2023, Match Group's own background-check partnership with the nonprofit Garbo — the closest the industry came to solving this — fell apart, and Garbo shut down. In 2024, Bumble paid a $315,000 fine to New Jersey regulators after telling users it ran no criminal background checks, despite having screened some users against sex-offender registries in the past.
The apps aren't hiding a solution from you. There largely isn't one, unless you go find it yourself.
What that gap actually costs. The risk isn't only physical, though that's real too — it's the things that are harder to put into words and don't have a clean remedy afterward:
- Physical: Any history, or close connection, to violence.
- Emotional: Patterns of control or manipulation — including how someone treats others when they think no one's watching.
- Financial: Whether someone, or their finances, are what they claim to be.
- Reputational: Behavior, past relationships, or affiliations that could reflect on you once you're involved — including any history of sharing private details or images without consent.
60% of Americans think dating apps should provide background-check information about the people you match with — but as of today, none of the major ones do it by default. The median reported loss to a romance scam victim is $2,000, the highest median loss of any fraud type tracked by the FTC.

Expertise, Compassion, Discretion
Why people trust us with this
This is a specialty. Vetting a relationship isn't the same skill as a standard background check — it takes knowing where the real risk usually hides, and how to spot the patterns that a generic search misses. That's what we do, and it's what we care about.
A compassionate ear, not a judgment. You're not a case number to us, and you're not being judged for asking. We take the request seriously, listen without making you feel foolish for wanting to know, and treat this as what it is: looking out for your future.
Discretion, for everyone involved. Every investigation is confidential — for you and for the person you're asking about. This is a tool for making a safer decision, handled quietly and professionally, start to finish.
Trust & Ethics + Next Step
This is about your safety, not someone else's past. Every report is prepared confidentially and given only to you — it's never shared, sold, or used for anything other than helping you make a safer decision about someone you're getting to know. It's not a tool for harassment, stalking, or settling scores, and we don't run requests that look like they're for that.
